OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is working on a new product, and it's not an app or software. It's reportedly working on a smart pen. The company has been working on this hardware project for some time, and the product is internally called Gumdrop. OpenAI hasn't yet commented on the details, but tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting it.

This device, which looks like a simple pen, will offer mind-blowing features. According to reports, notes taken with this pen can be instantly converted into digital text. It will also have audio features and will digitally record your spoken words. Preparations are underway to equip it with a voice assistant as well. Its most special feature will be that it can be connected to ChatGPT, so that if you speak or write anything, ChatGPT will be able to read it and make notes. Furthermore, that text can also be summarized and rewritten, and all this will be possible without a mobile or a laptop.  

Apple's supplier company will do the production.

OpenAI had previously negotiated with Luxshare to manufacture this pen, but they couldn't reach an agreement on a production location. Now, it's being said that Foxconn, the maker of iPhones and other popular gadgets, will produce this pen. 

Big challenge before OpenAI

OpenAI will face a significant challenge with this new device. Several screen-free devices have been launched in the past, including the Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin, but none have made a significant impact. Therefore, OpenAI will face the challenge of making its Gumdrop smart pen both practical and appealing to customers.
