India-Israel FTA: A free-trade agreement between India and Israel is expected to be finalized soon. A team of Israeli officials is reportedly scheduled to visit India in January to officially begin negotiations on the proposed free trade agreement between the two countries.
There will be increased trade between the two.
It should be noted that India and Israel signed the Terms of Reference (ToR) of a Free Trade Agreement on November 20th, aiming to increase bilateral trade tenfold over the next ten years. Both countries have already signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT). The FTA between India and Israel will enhance access to each other's markets, increasing capital flows and opening doors for greater investment and trade.
What do the two countries send to each other?
Israel is India's second-largest trading partner in Asia, after China. However, trade between the two countries primarily involves diamonds, petroleum products, and chemicals. Over the past few years, this has expanded to include everything from medical devices to electronic machinery. India's exports to Israel include pearls and precious stones, chemicals and minerals, agricultural goods, textiles, base metals, electronic devices, plastics, and other items. Israel's imports to India include petroleum, defense equipment, and machinery.
India-EAEU FTA
Trade between India and Israel totaled $3.62 billion in 2024-25, with India exporting $2.14 billion in goods and importing $1.48 billion in goods. Officials also said India will begin the second round of negotiations with the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union in February. The first round of negotiations on the FTA took place in November.
The India-EAEU FTA Terms of Reference were signed on August 20, 2025. It outlined an 18-month plan aimed at exploring new markets for small businesses, farmers, and fishermen in India. The EAEU comprises five countries: Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Russia is India's largest trading partner. Under the FTA between India and the EAEU, both sides aim to increase trade between them from the current $70 billion to $100 billion by 2030.
