An explosion and fire at a bar during New Year's Eve celebrations in the Swiss city of Crans-Montana caused a major tragedy. At least 10 people were killed, and 10 others were injured. The incident caused widespread panic in the area.
According to the Valais canton police, one or more explosions occurred at the bar named "Le Constellation" in Crans-Montana during New Year's Eve celebrations, followed by a massive fire. The fire broke out around 1:30 am. A large number of people were present in the bar at the time.
The police spokesman issued a statement.
Police spokesman Gaétan Lathion told AFP that the cause of the explosion is not yet clear. He said that several people were injured in the incident, and several deaths have been confirmed. Upon receiving the news of the accident, a large number of relief and rescue teams arrived at the scene. Several ambulances were deployed, while Air-Glaciers helicopters were also used to transport the injured to the hospital. Firefighters worked hard to control the fire.
