There are many things about menstrual hygiene and menstrual taboo, and in a way, it is always considered to be a hidden thing. How many times it must have happened that in your house mom, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt etc. have had periods, they have had some problem, but they have had trouble talking about it? Many women cannot even tell why they get periods.
Women shy away from talking about problems related to periods or about any personal problem and in such a situation they are greatly affected. Many women are not even aware of why their periods are happening and what they have to talk to the doctor about. In such a situation, even if there is a problem period, even then they do not know why this is happening to them.
MBBS, MD (Obgyn) DrAmeena Khalid has shared information related to this on her Instagram account. They have told me that if you are seeing such symptoms then your period is normal and if these symptoms are not visible then your period will not be normal.
1. If periods are not coming in 21-35 days then it is not normal-
If your periods fall between 21-35 days then they are normal, but if they are above or below this then surely your periods will not be normal. Even if periods are coming very frequently, it is a sign of uterus-related problems and if it is coming late, it can also be a sign of some serious disease. At such a time, you must consult a doctor once.
Sometimes this happens because of a health condition and your doctor may want to assure you that there is nothing wrong. But if this is happening again and again then it can be a serious matter.
2. If period pain is not becoming a daily problem, then your period is normal.
You need to note that if the pain of your periods is such that even your daily responsibilities are not being fulfilled then it is not normal. It is normal to have a few cramps, but if they are getting too much and you are having so much trouble that you cannot work without taking medicine or have to stay in bed all day, then it is not normal. At such times you need to consult a doctor.
3. If the period is happening more or less than 2-7 days then it is not normal-
Bleeding happens differently to everyone and everyone's body works differently. Some people have less bleeding and some people have a lot but if it is less than 2 days or more than 7 days, then it can be a matter of problem. If your period continues continuously for 10 days, then do consult a doctor once. This can be a sign of some internal disease or malfunction of some organ.
4. Spotting happening between two periods is not normal-
An occasional drop of blood between periods can be okay, but if spotting between periods is frequent and you always have to deal with it, then it is not normal. Don't even consider it normal because it means that you are never completely period free. Sometimes this happens because of an injury or the effect of a medicine, but it shouldn't always be a problem.5.If there is a sudden change in periods, then it is not normal-
If you feel that you have suddenly felt any change during periods, then you must get it checked. Sudden stoppage of periods, sudden severe pain, sudden dark blood or any such thing can bother you.
