This problem has been seen in more than 45 children across the world, in which in 44 percent of the cases the children were accidentally exposed to this drug and about 22 percent of the children experienced the side effects of this drug during the mother's pregnancy, that is, when the mother was pregnant, she used minoxidil drug.

Effect of Minoxidil on the eyes

Globally, approximately 1,660 cases of serious eye effects have been reported due to the use of the drug minoxidil. These include swelling of the eyelids and vision problems. Of these 1,660 cases, approximately 25 have been reported from India.

Which product did CDSCO take action against in India?

Taking cognizance of these matters, India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has suspended the registration of an anti-hair loss product called QR 678-Neo. The product was registered under India's Cosmetic Products Regulations, but an investigation found that it was being promoted for hair regrowth after chemotherapy, which is illegal, as cosmetic products are not permitted to be marketed as drugs.
