Amid the ongoing protests at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Geetanjali Angmo, reached out to supporters on Sunday evening with a special message from Sonam Wangchuk. She stated that Sonam Wangchuk would end his hunger strike if political leaders provided a concrete assurance that they would raise the issue of accountability in education during the monsoon session of Parliament, which begins tomorrow. To achieve this, leaders would need to personally visit Sonam Wangchuk at the hospital tomorrow and express their commitment to the movement's objectives.

Geetanjali Angmo clarified that Wangchuk is not ending the movement, but rather giving it a strategic direction to advance it democratically. Meanwhile, security has been increased unprecedentedly in the New Delhi area in anticipation of the Parliament session starting on Monday.

The Parliament march should be completely peaceful

This message, coming just before the planned "Parliament March" on July 20th, has given the movement a new twist. Appealing to the supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar, Geetanjali said, "Sonam Wangchuk has requested that our march on July 20th be completely peaceful." She also cautioned supporters not to allow this peaceful protest to be misused in any way.

Geetanjali approached the Supreme Court against the High Court's decision

Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Dr. Geetanjali Angmo, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court's order. She has requested the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to hear the matter urgently. Previously, the Delhi High Court dismissed Sonam Wangchuk's wife's petition seeking transfer of Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to a private hospital. After receiving no relief from the High Court, Dr. Geetanjali has now approached the Supreme Court and requested a hearing on Monday.
