Scientists have created a toothpaste that strengthens teeth. Know how it works?

Science is constantly progressing, new inventions keep happening every day. One such invention is about toothpaste, which is made from hair. Let us tell you about it.

A new way has emerged for teeth care. Recently, scientists at King's College London have developed a toothpaste that is made from keratin protein found in hair and can repair tooth enamel naturally. Keratin is a protein found in hair, skin, and wool. It is usually used in shampoos and hair treatments to repair hair. Now scientists have found that keratin is also very beneficial for teeth.

Dr Sherif Elsharkawy, an expert from the Department of Dentistry at Kings College London, said: "If you have very small cracks or minor damage to your teeth, keratin can repair them on its own without any pain or extra effort."

repairing tooth enamel

The biggest problem of teeth is the loss of enamel. Once the enamel is lost, it never forms again. The keratin present in this new toothpaste combines with the minerals of saliva to form a protective coating on the teeth, which acts like natural enamel. Although till date fluoride toothpaste and fluoride-containing water have been used to protect teeth, but keratin-based toothpaste can completely repair the enamel.

How to use

This new toothpaste will look like everyday fluoride toothpaste and will have a minty taste and foaming texture. It can be used normally in your daily life. In extreme cases, it can also be made into a professionally applied gel, which will work like nail varnish.

The future of toothpaste made from hair

Currently, test products have been made from wool. In the future, people can also extract keratin from their own hair. Currently, scientists have used sheep wool because it is easily available and is also better for the environment. Dr. Elsharqawi said, "We want this toothpaste to be cheap and available to everyone. It will not be made into a premium product." What its future is will be known in the future.

This new research has made it clear that keratin present in hair is not only beneficial for hair but also for teeth. This toothpaste may be available to the general public in the coming 2 to 3 years, and it will prove to be an eco-friendly and safe alternative to traditional dental treatments.
