Petrol and Diesel Prices: Would you believe that petrol is cheaper than water in Libya? In India, a one-liter bottle of water costs an average of 15 to 20 rupees. Suppose we spend 15 rupees for a one-liter bottle of water, then in Libya, we can buy 6 liters of petrol for that amount. This is no joke, but a reality. A liter of petrol in Libya costs only 2.25 rupees in Indian currency.
The impact of war and global tensions is clearly visible on crude oil prices. Brent crude has reached close to $100 per barrel, while the average global price of petrol has reached $141 per liter. Despite this, there are some countries where the price of petrol remains below $4 per liter.
Countries selling the cheapest petrol
In Libya, a liter of petrol costs ₹2.25, the cheapest price today. According to the global petrol price list, Iran is second, with a price of ₹2.27 per liter. Venezuela is third, with a price of ₹3.36 per liter. These countries are crude oil producers.
In Kuwait, petrol costs ₹32.60 per liter, while in Angola, it costs ₹31.43 per liter. In Turkmenistan, petrol costs ₹41.27 per liter. Egypt costs ₹45.49 per liter, making it one of the top 10 countries selling the cheapest petrol in the world.
Qatar and Saudi Arabia are also among the top 10 countries, but petrol prices here are above ₹ 50. Petrol in Qatar costs ₹ 55.38 per liter, while in Saudi Arabia, a liter costs ₹ 59.58.
Countries selling the most expensive petrol
When it comes to the world's most expensive petrol prices, Hong Kong tops the list, with a liter of petrol costing ₹390.52. This is followed by Malawi (₹310.97) and Denmark (₹257.87). Petrol prices in several European countries, including Israel and the Netherlands, also remain above ₹200 per liter.
Countries selling the cheapest and most expensive diesel
If we talk about the countries selling the cheapest diesel, Venezuela tops the list, where a liter of diesel costs 40 paise. This is followed by Iran at 55 paise and Libya at 2.25 rupees per liter. In Algeria, a liter of diesel costs 22.37 rupees. Diesel costs 27.51 rupees per liter in Turkmenistan, 35.70 rupees in Kuwait, 38.35 rupees in Egypt and 44 rupees per liter in Angola. In Qatar, a liter of diesel costs 54 rupees and in Saudi Arabia, 44 rupees.
Hong Kong also leads the world in diesel prices, with a liter costing ₹420. It's followed by Malawi (₹348), Singapore (₹261.84), and Denmark (₹258.36). Diesel prices are also high in Switzerland (₹237.34), Finland (₹237), Israel (₹235), and the Netherlands (₹229).
