For a healthy diet, it is often recommended to eat sprouted food. Despite this, there are some things which, when sprouted, cause harm instead of benefit. These things are potatoes, onions and garlic, which often sprout during the rainy season. Let us know what harm they cause.

For good health, doctors and dieticians often recommend including vegetables and sprouted items in the diet. Their regular use is beneficial for our entire body. Vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Many studies have also proved that regular use of vegetables keeps both the stomach and the heart healthy. Many dieticians believe that fresh and green vegetables play a very important role in living a long and healthy life.
Along with this, experts also emphasize on the proper maintenance and use of vegetables. Many vegetables are full of qualities, but if they are not used properly, they can have negative consequences. Potato, onion and garlic can be especially named in this. These are such vegetables which are usually present in every house. They are used regularly and we do not even think twice before eating them. But the use of these vegetables can become poison when they sprout. This information has been given by nutritionist Dimple Jangra in a video posted on her Instagram handle. Let's watch.
Potato: There is hardly any house where potatoes are not found in the kitchen. Potato, a favourite of children and adults, can also become poison. You are not able to believe it, but it is true. Dimple has told in her video that one should avoid using sprouted potatoes. Often people throw away the sprouts of potatoes when they sprout and cook the rest of the part. But, this habit can prove to be costly for you. The sprouts and green part of sprouted potatoes contain glycoalkaloids. Their use can cause solanine poisoning. It can also cause headache, diarrhea, neurological problems and nausea, vomiting etc.
Onion: Onion is used in everything from salad to vegetable, paratha and bagar. This is a vegetable that many people store for a long time. But sprouted onions should not be eaten. According to nutritionists, sprouted onions produce high levels of alkaloids, especially N-propyl disulfide. These can cause hemolytic anemia by damaging red blood cells. If eaten, vomiting, stomach ache, nausea and diarrhea can occur.
Garlic: Sprouted garlic causes more harm than good. Such garlic has a high concentration of sulfur compounds, which can be responsible for digestive problems. It can also cause oxidative damage to red blood cells.
