Coronavirus has been a major global health risk for more than four years. The risk of serious diseases was seen in many people during the infection, not only this, health experts have been expressing concern about the risks of post-Covid in people who have recovered from the infection. For example, once a coronavirus infection occurs, there can be a risk of many types of harm to health. In a recent study related to this, a team of researchers has made a big revelation.

Scientists at the University of California have found during research that after a person is first infected with corona, the remains of the virus can remain in the blood and tissues for more than a year. The team of scientists researching the risks of Long Covid said that coronavirus antigens were found in blood for 14 months after infection and in tissue samples for more than two years.

Researchers said, perhaps this could be one of the reasons why people are being found infected with corona again and again. Everyone needs to remain cautious regarding the risks of Corona.

Coronavirus can persist in the body
The study provides the strongest evidence to date that COVID-19 antigens can persist in some people for a long time, even if we think they have normal immunity, says Michael Peluso, an infectious diseases researcher at the UCSF School of Medicine. There are immune reactions.

Scientists have been researching to understand what may cause long-term COVID-19, in which symptoms of the disease persist for months or years even after recovery from the infection. The most common symptoms due to Long Covid have been extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of smell, and muscle pain. But in some people, it can also increase problems related to heart, lungs and brain.

What did the study find?
The UCSF research team examined blood samples of 171 infected people for this study. It found that the COVID-19 "spike" protein was present in some people up to 14 months after infection. Antigens were found more in people who had to be hospitalized due to infection or in people whose corona symptoms were quite severe.

Not only this, traces of RNA of the virus have been found in the body tissues even two years after infection.

How can viruses be removed from the body?
According to researchers, viral fragments of corona were found in the connective tissue where immune cells are located. This also shows that these fragments attacked the immune system. Following this research, the UCSF team is conducting clinical trials to find out whether monoclonal antibodies or antiviral drugs can remove the virus that persists in the body.

Long Covid remains a big threat
It is noteworthy that coronavirus is being seen to cause damage to the body in many ways. Recently, a study conducted on Long Covid has alerted about serious brain-related problems in people who have recovered from the infection. The team of experts said that in people who recovered from COVID-19, there was at least a 3-point reduction in IQ level after one year. This research published in The New England Journal of Medicine states that cognitive decline is seen in people with both mild and severe cases of corona infection.
