Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, on Monday, confirmed that the Indian cricket team has found a new kit sponsor in the form of sports apparel and merchandise Adidas. Jay Shah took to Twitter to confirm the change in sponsor. He tweeted, "I am delighted to announce the BCCI's partnership with Adidas as the kit sponsor. We are committed to growing the game of cricket and partnering with one of the world's leading sportswear brands." We are very excited to partner with you. Welcome adidas."
The existing sponsor 'Killer Jeans' will only have the sponsorship rights till May 31, after which Adidas will take over the deal. Prior to Killer Jeans, MPL was the kit sponsor for the Indian team and had transferred the rights to 'Only Kiran Clothing Limits' in December last year. It was also reported in December last year that edu-tech giant Byju's, the current sponsor, was set to end its deal before the contract expires in November 2023. The BCCI is reportedly on the lookout for a new main sponsor.
The Indian team is likely to take the field in the upcoming World Test Championship final with a new Adidas kit. The WTC final is to be played at the Oval ground in London from June 7. India will host the ODI World Cup in October-November this year. Before the team, Team India has to play many ODIs where the new blue-colored kit can be seen.
