The 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) is going to witness the one-thousandth match in the history of the tournament. On Sunday, April 30, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will clash in the 1000th match of the tournament. To celebrate this historic historical match, BCCI has planned to organize a big event.

The 1000th match of IPL will be played between two such teams which have special significance in the history of this tournament. Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in IPL history. Mumbai has won five titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. While Rajasthan Royals is the champion of the first tournament of IPL in the year 2008. Under the leadership of Sanju Samson, Rajasthan reached the finals last season as well.

In the historic 1000th match of the tournament, BCCI will organize an event as big as the opening ceremony of the 16th season. Significantly, after 2019, the opening ceremony was organized for the first time in the 2023 season.

An official associated with the BCCI said, “The BCCI will organize a small program to make the occasion memorable. Volunteers will be present on the ground with the 1000th IPL match flag, the 'Thank you' flag and the Indian flag. The whole ceremony will last only for 10-15 minutes. It will start with Ravi Shastri addressing the crowd, then a video will be played in which some players will talk about IPL. Then, the BCCI office-bearers will hand over a memento to both the captains (Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson), which will be followed by the national anthem. A dry run will be conducted before the match.

The opening ceremony of the 2023 Indian Premier League season took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad before the start of the tournament's opening match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
