The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is starting today from March 22. Many big changes will be seen in the T20 league this time. Five rules have changed. The same number of teams have also changed their captains. It is also possible that the new ball will be seen twice in an innings of 20 overs. Players will also come with more enthusiasm because for the first time they will get match fees. Let's know what's new in the Indian Premier League 2025.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved some such rules in the IPL this time, which the ICC does not recognize. These include allowing saliva on the ball. The board has approved many such new rules after a meeting with all the 10 captains of the IPL. With the arrival of these rules, the possibility of IPL 2025 becoming more exciting has increased. The first match of IPL 2025 will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR vs RCB) in Kolkata.
2 new balls in the second innings…
For the first time in IPL, two new balls can be seen in an innings. The board has changed the rules for this so that the effect of dew can be reduced. This decision will be applicable only in the match starting in the evening. According to this, the option of a new ball will be given from the 11th over of the second innings. This decision will depend on the umpires.
Use of saliva on the ball started again
The ICC had banned the use of saliva on the ball during the Covid period. This ban is still in force in international cricket but it no longer has any meaning in the IPL. The BCCI has lifted the ban on saliva. Now players will be able to use saliva to shine the ball, which will help in reverse swing. Recently, Mohammed Shami had demanded the removal of this ban.
DRS in wide and no ball
DRS has also been expanded in IPL. Now DRS can be used for height no-ball and wide ball on off-side. Hawk-Eye technology will be used for this.
No ban on slow over rate
Captains have also got relief from slow over rate in IPL. Now captains will not have to face ban due to slow over rate. Let us tell you that Hardik Pandya will not be able to play the first match for Mumbai Indians this season because he was banned due to slow over rate. This ban is already imposed, so Pandya will have to complete it but every captain has got relief in the upcoming matches.
Match fee will also fill the coffers
For the first time in IPL, match fee is also going to be given. Now a player will get Rs 7.50 lakh for playing one match. If a player plays 14 matches, then he will also get a match fee of Rs 1.05 crore. This amount will be in addition to the bid placed in the auction.
300 runs for the first time…
The record for the highest score in IPL is 287 runs, which was made by Sunrisers Hyderabad last year. It is believed that what did not happen in 17 years can happen in the 18th season. The figure of 300 runs can also be seen for the first time in IPL 2025. If former cricketer Aakash Chopra is to be believed, then this feat can be achieved first by Sunrisers Hyderabad, which has a powerful batting lineup.
