Shubman Gill Statement: The one-off Test between India and Afghanistan began June 6 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The match ended on the third day. The team, captained by Shubman Gill, won by an innings and 300 runs. This was India's biggest Test victory, after which Captain Gill made a significant statement.

'Complete victory'

Gill called it a complete win. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Indian captain Shubman Gill said, "I think it's a complete win for us, we ticked all the boxes. I'm very happy with it."

Why did you give follow-up?

Gill was asked about enforcing the follow-on. He replied, "It was very hot. If we got them out before lunch, we would have enforced the follow-on, otherwise we would have batted for a few more sessions."

Batting first and scoring a big total

Gill said, "It's simple, when you are in a position to bat first, make a big total."

Gill further talked about the young players and said, "There is more pressure on the batting group, we are trying to gain experience, trying to know which game can prove effective for us in different situations."

Gill's captaincy holds the record for the biggest win.

Shubman Gill surpassed all other Indian captains as captain. Team India, under Gill's captaincy, set the record for the largest Test victory. The victory by an innings and 300 runs became India's largest Test victory.
