India's T20 World Cup debut, defeating West Indies in a warm-up match; RCB player steals the show

Women's T20 World Cup 2026 IND W vs WI W: The Indian team got off to a strong start in the Women's T20 World Cup, defeating the West Indies by 26 runs in a warm-up match. Batting first at the Sophia Gardens Stadium in Cardiff, Team India scored 179 for 8 in 20 overs. In response, the West Indies could only manage 153 for 8 in 20 overs. This victory will undoubtedly give Team India confidence.

Bharti Fulmali for India and Shreyanka Patil for RCB stole the show with their impressive performances. Bharti top-scored with a 40-ball 56*, hitting six fours and one six. Shreyanka also took the most wickets, taking four.

 

Performance of Indian batsmen

For India, apart from Bharti Fulmali, Shefali Verma scored 29 runs, Smriti Mandhana scored 39 runs, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 07 runs, Yastika Bhatia scored 36 runs, Radha Yadav scored 01 run, Shreyanka Patil scored 02 runs, Kranti Goud scored 04 runs and Shree Charani scored 02*. Wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh was dismissed without scoring.

West Indies flop in run chase

West Indies got off to a good start in the run chase. Openers Deandra Dottin and Shemaine Campbell put on 63 runs for the first wicket in 54 balls. After that, the team couldn't recover, and wickets fell quickly. The team lost its second wicket at 75, the third at 81, the fourth at 97, the fifth at 102, the sixth at 103, the seventh at 113, and the eighth at 144.

The World Cup will begin on June 12.

Warm-up matches for the Women's T20 World Cup are currently underway. The tournament begins on June 12th. Team India will play its first match against Pakistan on June 14th at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Team India's second league match will be against the Netherlands on June 17th, the third against South Africa on June 21st, the fourth against Bangladesh on June 25th, and the fifth against Australia on June 28th.
