'I recited Kalma and survived'… Assam professor terrified by Pahalgam attack, said- I could see death in front of me

Assam University professor Debashish Bhattacharya and his family had a narrow escape from the Pahalgam terrorist attack. When the terrorists were shooting people after asking their religion, the professor started reciting Kalma. He is still in shock after the incident and describes his experience of coming close to death.

 

A professor from Assam who had a narrow escape from the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, has narrated the entire incident. He said that it was a blessing that he knew how to recite Kalma and that is why his life was saved. The professor, who is still living in fear 24 hours after the incident, said that he saw death passing very close to him. Such a death which is still not going out of his mind. This professor had gone for a holiday with his wife and children.

 

Associate Professor in Bengali Department of Assam University, Debashish Bhattacharya has expressed his fear to a media house. He said that he had gone for a walk with his family in the Besaran Valley of Pahalgam. Suddenly terrorists reached there and started shooting people after asking their religion. At that time he was lying under a tree with his wife and children. He saw that many people around were reciting Kalma out of fear of terrorists. Seeing them, he also started reciting Kalma.

Shot a person lying nearby

Meanwhile, a terrorist came towards him. He even asked what he was doing, but instead of answering, he started reciting Kalma louder. Seeing this, the terrorist started going in the other direction. While going, he shot the person lying next to him in the head. As soon as he left, he secretly left with his wife and son. According to Professor Bhattacharya, after walking for about two hours, he reached his hotel. However, after seeing the sight of death in front of him, he still cannot believe that he is alive.

 

Terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam on Tuesday

People were shot after asking them about their religion. 26 people were killed in this incident. During this time, many people survived by reciting Kalma or because they were Muslims. A similar claim has been made by the daughter of a businessman from Pune. She said that the terrorists there were asking people about their religion and then shooting them. She said that her father and uncle were also shot by the terrorists. The terrorists had asked her father to recite a verse from the Quran, but he could not recite it.
