Kannada actress Ranya Rao sent to judicial custody : Kannada actor Harshvardhini Ranya alias Ranya Rao, arrested in the gold smuggling case, was sent to 14 days judicial custody by a special court for economic crimes on Monday. Ranya Rao in contact with ministers?

DK Shivakumar on Monday dismissed reports claiming that two ministers had links with the gold smuggling case involving Kannada actress Ranya Rao. Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar also said that the state government has nothing to do with the case as central agencies are investigating it.

The Deputy CM also said, 'No minister is involved in this, we don't know anything. All this is total political gossip. The investigating officer will investigate according to the law. We have nothing to do with this.' Talking to journalists, he said, 'The central government is investigating, let them do so.'

Kannada actor Ranya Rao, who was arrested recently in the gold smuggling case, has made several allegations against the officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). According to reports, she said that the officials tortured her mentally. Kannada actress Ranya Rao was caught with 14.2 kg of gold at Bengaluru airport on March 3, 2025. Now the investigation into her gold smuggling racket has taken an interesting turn. DRI has revealed that the actress had tried to evade a total duty of Rs 4.8 crore by illegally bringing gold worth Rs 14.2 crore from Dubai.
