Bryce Cotton Says: “Disrespect – I Don’t Tolerate That” | Responds Firmly to Damon Lowery’s Comments

Five-time MVP Bryce Cotton has hit back strongly at NBL commentator Damon Lowery’s remarks about the Adelaide 36ers, saying he won’t tolerate any disrespect toward his teammates.

Cotton Defends His Team After Lowery’s Remarks

Adelaide 36ers star Bryce Cotton has made his stance clear after Damon Lowery criticized the 36ers’ offensive capability and playoff potential.

“He gave his opinion on my teammates as basketball players; I gave my opinion on him as a basketball player. Same thing to me,” Cotton said on SEN Radio Adelaide.

Cotton, 33, said he felt compelled to respond because Lowery’s tone undermined his teammates.

“There’s no personal history between us. But I’m big on support and having my teammates’ backs,” Cotton explained.
“If anyone disrespects our team, I’ll answer in a way people may not be used to. Disrespect and belittlement — I don’t tolerate that.”

“Respect Works Both Ways” – Cotton Emphasizes Sportsmanship

The five-time MVP emphasized that mutual respect is essential, even in criticism.

“Be yourself, but be consistent and respectful,” Cotton said.
“Even if you’re not speaking highly about a player, keep the respect. If you want respect, you’ve got to give it.”

He added that he has no issue being interviewed by Lowery in the future but won’t ignore comments that undermine his team.

🏆 Captain Vasiljevic Also Responds to Critics

Adelaide captain Dejan Vasiljevic indirectly addressed the issue during a post-game press conference, defending his team’s record.

“Tell the critics we’re 6–2 and playing good basketball,” Vasiljevic said.
“If people want Bryce to score 40 and we still lose, fine — I’ll sit in the corner as a decoy if that’s what helps us win.”

He added that his focus is now more on defense and rebounding, saying he’s willing to do whatever it takes for the team’s success.

🏀 Cotton to Face Former Club Perth Wildcats Next

Cotton is set to face his former team, the Perth Wildcats, on Sunday, November 9, in Adelaide.

“It’s just another game,” Cotton said. “There’s no bad blood with former teammates or coaches. It’ll be great to see them — but the goal is always to win.”

The 36ers are currently 6–2 and recently edged out the defending champion Illawarra Hawks in Round 7.

“In this league, you can’t judge teams by their record. Any team can beat anyone on any given night,” Cotton remarked.

He also praised William Hickey of the Illawarra Hawks, calling him the “heart and soul” of his team.

“He plays with grit, puts up numbers, and helps them find their rhythm. I think Illawarra are going to heat up as the season goes on,” Cotton concluded.
