US-Iran Tension: A new US decision against Iran has been announced. President Donald Trump has issued an order imposing tariffs on countries that trade with Iran.

Donald Trump's new decision
US President Donald Trump on Friday (February 6, 2026) issued a new executive order intended to strengthen the national emergency with respect to Iran. Under this order, the US can impose tariffs on countries that directly or indirectly purchase goods or services from Iran to protect US national security, foreign policy, and economic interests.
The new order aims to limit Iran's economic network so that it cannot profit from its policies, such as nuclear capabilities, terrorism support, ballistic missile development, and regional instability. The order empowers the US Secretary of State, Secretary of Commerce, and Trade Representative to determine, establish, and enforce tariff systems.
What are the official grounds for the order?
The order was issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and the National Emergencies Act, which empower the president to impose strict regulations on foreign trade due to a national emergency. The move was taken to continue responding to the national security challenge Iran poses to the United States.
The US administrator's policy on Iran
The Trump administration has adopted a tough stance on Iran. Previously, Trump withdrew the United States from the Iran Nuclear Deal in 2018 and implemented a policy of maximum pressure. Iran's elite group, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has been designated a foreign terrorist organization. The current order furthers this stance to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and establishing regional influence.
Amendments and reactions to the order
The new executive order states that the President may amend or modify the order if circumstances change, such as if Iran or the affected country aligns with the United States on national security, foreign policy, or economic matters. Furthermore, the order may also be amended if retaliation is received from a country.
America's broader stance and goals on Iran
The White House blames Iran for regional instability, supporting terrorism, and internal violence. Where protests are harshly suppressed, and resources are diverted from the well-being of citizens to weapons and nuclear programs, the US considers it an extraordinary threat and is implementing a comprehensive accountability policy.
