The RBI decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.25 percent in its bi-monthly monetary policy review. The central bank's six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) reached this decision unanimously. The RBI also maintained its neutral monetary stance, indicating that a rate change is unlikely for the time being.

Among Sensex companies, ITC was the biggest gainer, rising 5.09 percent. Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid, and Bajaj Finserv also gained. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced a proposal to allow REITs to lend to boost financing in the real estate sector.
