Paush Putrada Ekadashi 2025: Auspicious Timings, Rituals, and Vrat Katha for Blessings of Children

Paush Putrada Ekadashi Vrat Today: In Hindu tradition, the Ekadashi that falls in the Shukla Paksha of the Paush month holds special significance. Known as Paush Putrada Ekadashi, this sacred fast is observed for the well-being, success, and happiness of children. Devotees worship Lord Vishnu on this day and seek blessings for good fortune and prosperity in family life.

Paush month is considered spiritually powerful in the Hindu calendar. It is dedicated to Sun God and is also known as Chhota Pitru Paksha. It is believed that offering prayers, charity, and rituals for ancestors during this period helps remove Pitra Dosh and brings their blessings to the family. Among these auspicious rituals, Paush Putrada Ekadashi is one of the most significant observances.

This Ekadashi is particularly performed by couples who wish to be blessed with children or want progress and protection for their offspring. Interestingly, Putrada Ekadashi is observed twice a year — once in Paush month and once in Shravan month — making it one of the most important Ekadashi fasts among all 24 Ekadashi observances of the year.

📖 Paush Putrada Ekadashi Vrat Katha

According to ancient scriptures, there was once a noble king named Suketuman, who ruled a prosperous kingdom. His wife, Queen Shaivya, was virtuous and kind. However, the royal couple had no children, and this caused them deep sorrow.

The king constantly worried — Who will take care of the kingdom after me? Who will perform the rituals and offer salvation after my death?

One day, while wandering in the forest in despair, the king saw animals happily living with their offspring. Feeling even more helpless, he continued walking until he reached an ashram where wise sages were performing penance.

Respectfully greeting the sages, he expressed his pain and longing for a child. Pleased by his humility, the sages told him that he had been divinely guided to them. They advised him to observe Putrada Ekadashi Vrat with utmost sincerity.

Following their guidance, King Suketuman observed the Ekadashi fast with devotion. Blessings soon followed — Queen Shaivya conceived, and later they were blessed with a radiant son. The king not only witnessed the joy of fatherhood but eventually attained salvation as well.

This story emphasizes the deep spiritual and emotional significance of Paush Putrada Ekadashi.
