World Responsible Nations: Neither China, nor Russia, nor America in the ranking of responsible countries, no one in the top 10!

Singapore ranks first in the Responsible Nations Index 2026, while India is ranked 16th. Learn about the rankings and India's position.

Amid growing political tensions, economic uncertainty, and the climate crisis, the Responsible Countries 2026 list has been released. The World Intellectual Foundation (WIF) published this report on January 19th. Singapore has been named the world's most responsible country in this list. Singapore has achieved the top spot by demonstrating its excellence in governance, society, and the environment.

Switzerland came in second, and Denmark third, on the list. These countries were praised for their honest governance, social security, and global responsibility. This report differs from typical global rankings because it doesn't just look at economic strength or military power, but rather assesses how responsible a country is to its people and the world.

What was the ranking based on?

In this index, 154 countries of the world were evaluated on four main bases, which are as follows:

  • Honest and clean governance
  • social well-being of the people
  • environmental protection
  • Responsibility to the world

The report revealed that despite having large economies, many countries lagged behind. The United States ranked 66th, and China 68th. This makes it clear that simply having money or power is not a sign of responsibility. Pakistan ranked 90th on this list.

Europe leads, conflict-ridden countries lag behind

Many European countries are high on the list, indicating a strong focus on governance and social responsibility. However, countries grappling with conflict and crisis fare poorly. Syria ranked 153rd, and Yemen 151st, respectively, at the bottom of the list.

India's position

India ranked 16th on this list, with a score of 0.5515. According to the report, India has performed well in healthcare, social equality, environmental programs, and people-centered policies. However, the report also states that India needs to focus on balanced development and consistent policy for long-term performance. Overall, the report demonstrates that responsibility is not built solely on power, but on sound policies and actions taken in the interest of the people.
