The horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left 28 innocent tourists dead, has sparked widespread outrage — not just in India, but internationally as well. Among the most vocal is former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria, who has strongly condemned the targeted killing of Hindus, questioning the ideology and the local support behind such attacks.
Kaneria’s Hard-Hitting Question:
"Why is it always Kashmiri Pandits and Hindu tourists who are targeted?"
The ex-Pakistani Test cricketer took to social media platform ‘X’ to voice his anger, demanding answers and accountability. He pointed out the disturbing pattern of attacks that never seem to affect locals — only Hindu pilgrims and tourists — indicating a deeper, more disturbing narrative. He wrote:
"Terrorism, no matter how it is hidden, follows the same ideology – and the whole world is paying the price."
Kaneria Holds Local Support Accountable
Kaneria didn't stop at just questioning the motive — he also called out the local complicity. Reposting a statement claiming that such attacks cannot happen without support from locals, he affirmed the sentiment, further stoking debate on internal enablers of terrorism in the Valley.
Hafeez’s Grief
In a rare display of unity, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez also condemned the attack. His post read:
"I am sad, my heart is broken."
While not as direct as Kaneria, Hafeez’s comment marks a notable moment of empathy from across the border.
The Brutal Attack:
On April 22, terrorists ambushed a group of tourists in Pahalgam, allegedly asking about their religion before opening fire. The victims were reportedly Hindu pilgrims and visitors, sparking anger, heartbreak, and calls for justice nationwide.
What’s Next?
As India intensifies pressure on Pakistan for harboring and aiding terrorist outfits, citizens are demanding decisive action not just against the attackers, but also against the networks sustaining them.
Kaneria's bold stance, especially as a Pakistani Hindu, has added a significant voice to the chorus of international condemnation — and reminded the world that terrorism sees no borders, but targets ideologies.
