Who is this young IAS officer? Arrested red handed while taking bribe, 47 lakhs recovered from his house

In Odisha, a young IAS officer was caught by the Vigilance while taking a bribe of 10 lakhs. During the search of his house, cash worth 47 lakhs was recovered.

Bhubaneswar: A young IAS officer has been arrested by the Vigilance while taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a businessman. Diman Chakma (36), a 2021 batch Odisha cadre officer, was caught red-handed. After this, during a search of his house, the Vigilance officials recovered an unaccounted amount of Rs 47 lakh.

 

State Vigilance Director Yashwant Jethwa told the media that Diman Sharma, working as a sub-collector in Dharamgarh in Odisha's Kalahandi district, was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh in a government quarter. The vigilance team had laid a trap to catch the officer following a complaint by a businessman.

 

Diman Chakma, a resident of Tripura, is working in Bihar. The complainant is the owner of a mine under his jurisdiction. He lodged a complaint with the Vigilance after he was asked for a bribe. Rs 20 lakh was demanded. Later, he was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 10 lakh in a government quarter.
