WhatsApp has introduced two new features to simplify event management. Users will now be able to send event links to people without a WhatsApp account. Learn what these new features will bring.
WhatsApp event link sharing
WhatsApp Events: The ability to create events and invite people to join them is already available on WhatsApp, but now the company is preparing to make it even easier. This messaging app from Meta has now introduced some new features to make event-related tasks easier. Under this, the event link can now be shared even with those who do not use WhatsApp. Apart from this, a new Events Home has also been added to manage all the important information related to the event and people's responses in one place.
WhatsApp Events now has the option to share links.
WhatsApp first introduced the option to create events and invite members to communities in May 2024. Later, this feature was extended to group chats as well. Through this, users can create an event for any event and ask invited people whether they will attend it or not. Now, taking this feature further, the company has given the option to share the event link. While creating the event, users will also be able to add a cover photo to it and can share the created link directly with other people. The special thing is that this link can be sent even to people who do not have an account on WhatsApp.
All information related to the event will be available in Events Home
WhatsApp has also introduced a new section called Events Home. It's designed to be a central place for creating events, sending invitations, and managing responses. Users can set custom reminders and add plus ones. Additionally, information about past and upcoming events can be viewed here. Users need to go to WhatsApp Settings and select the "Events" option. This will display a list of both the events they've created and the events they've received invitations to.
The update will reach all users in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp announced these new features in a blog post. According to the company, they will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks. WhatsApp's new Events Home feature is similar to Snapchat's Plans option, allowing users to manage their events without having to navigate to different pages. Snapchat introduced its event management feature in September.
You can reply even without a WhatsApp account.
An important feature of this update is that invitees to events won't need to download WhatsApp or create an account to indicate their attendance. They'll be able to RSVP directly via the link they receive and indicate whether they'll attend. Once someone responds, their attendance information will be visible to the event creator. However, those without a WhatsApp account will only see the event address if they accept the invitation and RSVP. According to the company, sending an event link to such people won't share their phone number.
