People are facing problems like cold, cough, sore throat, fever and body ache. In this season, any type of bacteria and virus spread rapidly, make people their victims. Similarly, the viruses that cause viral infections are also present in the air. It enters the body through the respiratory tract or through spoiled food and spreads quickly. Children, the elderly and people with weak immunity are more affected by it.
Common symptoms of viral infection include fever, cough, cold, sore throat, headache, body pain and weakness. In some cases, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain may also occur. When viral infection occurs, the body's immunity becomes weak, due to which the person gets tired quickly and becomes sensitive to other infectious diseases. If fever or weakness persists for a long time, it can put pressure on the vital organs of the body, which can affect the liver, kidney and heart. In such a situation, there is a need to avoid viral fever in this season. If it has happened, then care is also necessary. However, not every patient of this fever needs to go to the hospital. What to do at home if you get viral during rainy season?
Dr. Rakesh Bagdi, former resident and pediatrician consultant of Delhi AIIMS, says that it is most important to rest at home when you have a viral infection. Get adequate sleep and protect the body from fatigue. During this time, do not let the body get dehydrated. It is important to drink at least seven glasses of water a day. Apart from this, increase the intake of lemonade, soup and juice so that there is no shortage of water and electrolyte in the body.
Avoid eating heavy meals during this time. If the fever is 100°F (about 37.7°C) or more, you can take paracetamol.
In case of sore throat and blocked nose, gargling with hot water and taking steam is beneficial. In case of headache or blocked nose, applying cold compress or light massage can provide relief.

Dr Jugal Kishore of the Community Medicine Department at Safdarjung Hospital says that if you are having fever in this season, it could be viral fever. In such a situation, if you are not getting relief at home, then go to the doctor. You should go to the doctor if you have these symptoms.
The fever persists for 3 to 4 days continuously.
Feel extreme weakness or lethargy in the body.
Difficulty breathing or chest pain.
There is a problem of vomiting or diarrhea.
Swelling in the body, dizziness or rashes on the skin may appear.
Prevention is also essential
Dr Kishore says that cases of viral fever increase in this season. 20 to 30 percent of patients in OPD are facing this problem. Dr Kishore says that prevention from viral fever is also important. For this, you should keep in mind that you avoid street food while going out. Always wash hands before eating. If someone has cold, fever or flu, then avoid coming in contact with them. If you get wet in the rain, then immediately change your clothes after coming home and take a bath. This will reduce the chances of any infection.
