This couple is none other than veteran actors Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher. While Kirron was already married when she met Anupam, rumors suggested that he, too, was married at the time. However, Anupam has now set the record straight.

Anupam Kher Denies Marriage Rumors

A few months ago, Anupam Kher appeared on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, where he was asked about his first meeting with Kirron Kher and the beginning of their love story. Addressing the speculation about him being married before Kirron, the actor dismissed it as false.

A Love Story That Stood the Test of Time

During the podcast, the host remarked, "Your love story with Kirron Ma’am is truly beautiful, but back then, both of you were married." Anupam immediately interrupted, clarifying, "No, I was not married. All these rumors you’ve heard are completely false. We were very good friends for 12 years before we got together."

Recalling their early days, Anupam shared, "I went to Chandigarh in 1974 to study acting at the Indian Theatre, and Kirron had graduated a year before me. At that time, she was the star of the academy." The host then humorously asked, "I heard she was rich, and you were struggling?"

Anupam laughed and replied, "Not exactly. Apart from being talented, she was also great at academics, beautiful, and an excellent badminton player. After her marriage, she moved to Bombay while I was in Delhi at drama school. Later, when I moved to Mumbai as a struggling actor, my friend Satish Kaushik and I would visit Kirron’s house for meals. She even paid our taxi fare, which was ₹50 at the time. But instead of spending it on a taxi, we used to travel by bus and save that money—it helped us survive the entire day."

From Friendship to Love

Anupam revealed that over time, Kirron started facing difficulties in her marriage, while he was also dealing with heartbreak. "We supported each other as friends, and eventually, we fell in love. That’s when we decided to get married," he said.

Their Family Life

Kirron Kher was previously married to businessman Gautam Berry, with whom she had a son, Sikandar Kher, in 1979. She later divorced Gautam and married Anupam Kher in 1985. Although Anupam and Kirron do not have children together, Anupam shares a close bond with Sikandar, treating him like his own son. Their strong family connection is often visible on social media.
