New Delhi: Virat Kohli, who reached Dubai to play the Champions Trophy after struggling with form, chose his favourite team Pakistan to get back in form. The 'Chase Master' not only helped India win by six wickets by scoring an unbeaten 100 runs in 111 balls but also brought India to the brink of the semi-finals. In the last moments of the match, there was a fear that Virat might miss out on a century due to the low score.
There was a lot of suspense over Virat's century.
When the 43rd over started, India needed four runs to win and Virat Kohli needed five runs to score a century. Virat made the matter more complicated by taking a single on the first ball of spinner Khushdil Shah, but on the very next ball, Akshar Patel took a single and handed the strike back to Virat Kohli. Now the equation was such that only two runs were needed to win and four runs to score a century.
Rohit was desperate for Kohli's century.
Meanwhile, the heartbeat of the fans present in the stadium had increased. Virat himself knew that centuries are not made every day. He was also waiting for this century very impatiently. But he was not the only one who was impatient for this century. Captain Rohit Sharma present in the pavilion was also equally impatient. Meanwhile, when the camera focused on him, he was seen signaling Virat to complete the century by hitting a six.
Then he fulfilled his heart's desire by hitting a four.
Virat Kohli not only gave India the victory by hitting the winning four off Khushdil Shah on the third ball of the 43rd over but also completed his 51st ODI century. The happiness of the century could be clearly seen on his face. In celebration, he pointed towards the pavilion. As if he was saying 'Relax, I am here…!'
