The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 begins today, with lakhs of aspiring teachers appearing for one of the state's largest recruitment-related examinations. The examination will be conducted over three days across multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh, with candidates also travelling from several other states to participate.

UPTET 2026: Key Highlights
The examination will be conducted according to the following schedule:
- Exam dates: July 2 to July 4, 2026
- Total candidates: Approximately 16 lakh
- Examination districts: 60 districts across Uttar Pradesh
- Exam centres: 955 centres statewide
- Candidates from other states: More than 1 lakh
- Serving teachers participating: Over 1 lakh teachers from the Basic Education Department
Authorities have made extensive arrangements to conduct the examination smoothly across all designated centres.
Lucknow to Witness the Highest Number of Candidates
Lucknow is expected to record the largest turnout during the examination.
According to the schedule:
- Exam centres in Lucknow: 46
- Expected candidates: Around 96,454 over the three-day examination period
Additional security and administrative arrangements have reportedly been made to manage the large number of examinees.
UPTET 2026 Exam Timings
The examination will be conducted in two shifts each day:
First Shift
- 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Second Shift
- 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Candidates should note that entry to the examination centre will close 45 minutes before the start of each shift. No candidate will be allowed to enter after the gates are closed, regardless of the reason for the delay.
Documents You Must Carry
Candidates should ensure they bring the following documents to the examination centre:
- Printed copy of the UPTET 2026 Admit Card
- Three recent passport-size photographs
- One original valid photo identity proof, such as:
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card
- Voter ID Card
- Any other approved government-issued photo ID
- Black ballpoint pen for filling the OMR answer sheet
Failure to carry the required documents may result in denial of entry to the examination hall.
