A major accident occurred on Thursday at Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat. Air India's B787 Dreamliner aircraft flying from Ahmedabad to London crashed just 5 minutes after take off.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Air India flight took off from Ahmedabad at 1.38 pm.

According to DGCA, after takeoff, the plane remained in the sky for 5 minutes, but after reaching a height of 625 feet, it started coming down and collided with the ground. DGCA said, the plane crashed in Meghani Nagar, a residential area.

Relief and rescue work has been started immediately after the incident. Three teams of NDRF, comprising 90 personnel, have been rushed from Gandhinagar to the plane crash site. A total of three more teams are being sent from Vadodara.

The aircraft was being commanded by Captain Sumit Sabharwal along with First Officer Clive Kunder. Captain Sumit Sabharwal is an LTC with 8200 hours of experience. The co-pilot had 1100 hours of flying experience.
