Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani believes that interest in cricket is still growing in a country like the US, where baseball has always dominated. The first season of Major League Cricket (MLC) started on 14 July, consisting of six teams. Mumbai Indians New York, a franchise owned by Reliance Industries Limited, is one of the six teams included in the first season of MLC.

The first match of the Major Cricket League was between the Texas Super Kings and the Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and a large number of spectators turned up to watch the match. Talking about the growing interest in cricket in the US, Nita Ambani said that ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Major League Cricket in the White House, many people have come forward to invest in the league, and hope is believed that cricket will grow further in the times to come.

Reliance Foundation President Nita said "People in America will grow in interest in cricket. I think people's attention is increasing towards this game, we have six teams. Currently, Mumbai Indians (NY) playing against Texas Super Kings Our Prime Minister also talked about cricket in the White House, a lot of people have invested in these teams and I am sure people's interest will increase.

Mumbai Indians New York has played three matches so far in the first season of the Major Cricket League and is at the third position in the points table. Mumbai's only win is against LA Knight Riders. This team has faced defeat against San Francisco Unicorn and Texas Super Kings. The team will look to get their second win in the inaugural season of Major League Cricket when they take on the Washington Freedom at Church Street Park on Monday.
