Doctors talk about the adverse effects of this not only on the physical but also on the mental state of the child. They say, "Studies have shown that children who spend a lot of time on screens often eat high-calorie processed foods, influenced by advertisements promoting unhealthy options." Research shows that spending too much time on screens can disturb sleep patterns, which can affect metabolism and increase the risk of obesity. The problem is further aggravated by the lack of outdoor play and social interaction, which leads to less muscle development and poor overall fitness.
Minimize screen-time
Dr. Saggu gives advice to reduce this risk. He said, "Parents and caregivers can reduce these risks by setting screen-time limits, encouraging outdoor activities and promoting balanced nutrition. Creating technology-free zones at mealtime and bedtime can also help control screen exposure." It can be said that if healthy habits are inculcated from childhood, then our children can be saved from big risks. Children can adopt a good lifestyle, which can reduce the risk of obesity and related health problems in them.
Chances of getting cancer are higher
In 2018, a research by the World Cancer Research Fund claimed that overweight children have a higher chance of getting cancer. It said that a major reason for the increasing weight and obesity of children is spending more time on screens. It specifically said that children suffering from overweight and obesity are more likely to remain so even when they become adults, and such children have a higher risk of cancer.
