There is a kind of competition among the Muslim youth to celebrate Eid by wearing such kurtas with bright coloured embroidery from the neck to the shoulders and the upper part of the back.

This time Eid-ul-Fitr festival in India may fall on 31st March or 1st April. This will be decided when the moon is visible. Salman Khan's movie 'Sikander' is releasing on 30th March. In such a situation, the craze of 'Salman Bhaijaan' is being seen among Muslim fans.

 

 

Demand has increased the price.

Faheem of 'SM Collections' located in Chitli Qabra area of ​​Old Delhi told that the black coloured kurta-pyjama worn by Salman Khan in 'Sikander', the same kind of cloth has recently come in the market and the youth has bought it readily. He told that its price is more than the normal kurta-pyjama cloth. According to Faheem, while the normal embroidered kurta-pyjama is available for 1,000 to 1,500 rupees, the price of this black coloured cloth is up to 2,800 rupees.

 

Pakistani kurta is also a hit.

Shopkeeper Mohammad Salman of Matia Mahal area of ​​Old Delhi says that apart from the kurta worn by the actor, Pakistani embroidered kurta-pyjama fabric is also selling well in the market. He said that this fabric is made in Surat, Gujarat, but due to its embroidery it is known as 'Pakistani'. Its price is between 1,000-1,500 rupees and it is available in many colors and designs.

There is a tradition of wearing kurta-pyjama in the Indian subcontinent. According to Islamic teachings, applying perfume, wearing clean clothes and dressing up well on the day of Eid is considered 'Sunnah' (tradition of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Most Muslim men wear kurta-pyjama during Eid prayers. This is the reason why different designs and varieties of this traditional dress are available in the markets.

Sale of readymade kurtas increased

Generally people like to buy cloth and get kurta-pyjama stitched according to their size, but due to high demand most tailors have stopped taking new orders. Therefore people are now also buying readymade kurta-pyjamas.

Naved, who runs a tailoring shop in Jafrabad, says that due to shortage of time, he is no longer taking new orders. Naved said, "We have to complete all the orders two days before Eid, because we and our artisans also have to celebrate Eid."

Tailor's work increased

However, Raees Ahmed, who runs a tailoring shop in Maujpur's Vijay Park area, is still taking new orders. Ahmed has employed 7 extra artisans and they are working 14 to 16 hours. He told that it takes about 3 hours to stitch a kurta-pyjama.

Which one is in the highest demand?

Altamash, who runs an online and offline business of 'readymade' kurta-pyjamas in Jafrabad, said that he is getting more than 120 online orders daily, while offline sales are of 60-65 kurta-pyjamas. He said that the highest demand is for "Pakistani style" kurta-pyjamas, the price of which starts from Rs 1,500. The price of embroidered kurta-pyjamas goes up to Rs 2,000-2,500.
