Rohit Sharma: While cricket fans are praising Team India and its captain Rohit Sharma for their stellar performance, Congress spokesperson and dentist Dr. Shama Mohamed has made a controversial remark against him.
In the Champions Trophy 2025, the Indian team has been performing exceptionally well, winning all three of their group-stage matches convincingly. After clinching the T20 World Cup title, the team is now aiming to win the Champions Trophy as well. While fans are showering praise on Rohit Sharma and Team India, a controversial remark by Congress’ national spokesperson Dr. Shama Mohamed has sparked debate. She criticized Rohit Sharma’s leadership, calling him an "unimpressive captain."
Shama Mohamed Questions Rohit Sharma’s Fitness
Dr. Shama Mohamed took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and posted:
"Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! He needs to lose weight! And of course, he is the most unimpressive captain India has ever had!"
For years, Rohit Sharma's fitness has been a topic of debate. However, he has consistently shut down critics with his performances on the field, proving that he is fit to lead the team.

Shama Calls Rohit Sharma a "Mediocre Player & Captain"
In another X post, Dr. Shama compared Rohit Sharma to past Indian captains like Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Kapil Dev, and Ravi Shastri, questioning what makes him world-class in comparison. She even went as far as to say:
"He is a mediocre captain as well as a mediocre player who got lucky to be the Captain of India."

Rohit Sharma’s Leadership & India’s Performance Under Him
Rohit Sharma was appointed as India’s captain across all formats in February 2022. Under his leadership, India has delivered strong performances in major ICC tournaments. Although India fell short in the 2023 World Cup final, Rohit led the team to victory in the T20 World Cup, winning every match from the group stage to the final. Now, in the Champions Trophy 2025, India has already secured a spot in the semifinals.
