Pecan For Heart Health : Pecan nuts, which are eaten as a healthy snack in America, are very beneficial for health. Just a handful of this crunchy snack full of nutritional value can help you prevent many health problems.

Pecan Improves Overall Health : It looks like a walnut. Its shell is golden brown from outside and these nuts are beige from inside. It contains 70% more fat than other nuts. In India, it is also called Bhidurkasth fruit, which is grown especially in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. A research has claimed that many problems can be controlled by eating 2 ounces i.e. a handful of pecan nuts daily. It is a very popular crunchy snack full of nutritional value in America. Especially in North America and Mexico, people include it in their diet.
Beneficial for the Heart
A recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that replacing your favourite snack with a handful of this popular nut could be good for your heart as it is rich in antioxidants, monounsaturated fats and fibre - all of which help fight heart disease.
Research done on 138 adults
138 adults were included in the 12-week research. These included people who had at least one risk factor in their body. They were either suffering from high BP, high cholesterol, high sugar level or high BMI. Half of the participants ate the same food they ate daily, while the rest were asked to eat 2 ounces of pecans daily. The research was funded by the American Pecan Council.
Warnings
It found that those in the group that ate pecans had a significant reduction in heart problems. There is a caveat to this, though. The study did not find that eating pecans had a significant effect on vascular health - meaning that eating them does not mean your blood vessels work better, although researchers did expect it to have an effect on blood vessels.
Benefits of eating pecans
Participants in the group who ate pecans also gained an average of 1.5 pounds, this is because pecans contain about 200 calories per ounce. In addition to the effects on heart health, research found that the overall quality of the diet of participants who ate these nuts increased by 17%, which strengthens the belief that pecans can be part of a healthy diet, especially if it is an alternative to less healthy snacks.
Matches previous thesis
This research also matches previous thesis, such as a 2021 study that found that consuming 68 grams of pecans daily for eight weeks reduced total cholesterol in participants by about 5% and "bad" LDL cholesterol by 6.4% to 9.5%.
