Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, known for his memorable roles and impeccable comic timing, recently found himself at the center of a social media storm due to a statement he made about Akshay Kumar during an interview. With Hera Pheri 3 back in the spotlight, fans were quick to jump to conclusions about a possible rift between the beloved co-stars.
What Sparked the Buzz?
In an interview with Lallantop, Paresh Rawal was asked whether Akshay Kumar was his friend. His response was:
“There are colleagues in the film industry, there are friends in theatre, and there are jigar-jaan friends in school.”
He clarified that Akshay is a colleague, not someone he meets regularly or talks to often. This seemingly casual comment set social media abuzz with speculation that all might not be well between the Hera Pheri stars.
Paresh Rawal Responds: “Matha kharab ho gaya yaar!”
In a follow-up interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rawal expressed surprise at the reaction:
“People started asking what happened? Arre bhaiya, nothing happened.”
He explained that calling someone a "colleague" doesn't imply a fallout — it simply reflects the nature of their interactions. Neither he nor Akshay are socially active or seen at parties, which is why they don’t meet frequently.
“He’s a Friend and Will Remain a Friend”
Paresh Rawal went on to reassure fans:
“He is a friend and will remain a friend. All this uproar was unnecessary.”
When asked if Akshay had watched the interview, Paresh said he hadn’t — but also added that Akshay is a “great guy” and reiterated that they’ve done over 15–20 films together and share mutual respect.
Bottom Line:
There’s no rift between Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar. It was simply a case of a statement being misinterpreted and blown out of proportion by the internet.
