The monsoon session of Parliament may begin on July 18. The Election Commission has recently announced the schedule for the election of the new President of the country and polling will be held on July 18 and therefore all the MPs (Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha) will come to Delhi for voting and with that the monsoon session of Parliament may begin.

Apart from the President, elections for the Vice President will also be held during this session and the monsoon session of Parliament will probably end on August 10. This year marks the 75th anniversary of independence and therefore the flag waving ceremony on 15th August will be more special. According to top sources, special arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations will start from August 11. The declaration for the Presidential election will be released today and candidature can be registered till June 29.

Given the current political situation, the presidential election is unlikely to be uncontested or unanimous. The monsoon session of Parliament usually begins in the third week of July and lasts till the second week of August. It will start a little earlier this year due to the presidential election. Most importantly, this monsoon session of Parliament could be the final session in the country's historic Parliament House.

The new parliament has been reconstructed under the Central Vista project and internal work is now underway and earlier Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla had announced that the winter session of 2022 would be held at the newly constructed Parliament House and this could be announced during the monsoon session of Parliament. The clash between the government and the opposition is certain in the monsoon session of Parliament and besides this the Assembly elections of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are also to be held after this session so it will have repercussions in the session.
