Narak Chaturdashi 2025: The second day of the Pancha Mahaparva, also known as Roop Chaturdashi, Narak Chaturdashi, or Choti Diwali, falls on this day. This year, Chaturdashi Tithi begins on October 19th at 1:51 PM.
It will conclude on October 20th at 3:44 PM. Consequently, Narak Chaturdashi or Choti Diwali will be celebrated on October 19th. Furthermore, Aindra Yoga, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, and Sarva Amrit Yoga will be present on this day.
Whom did Lord Krishna kill?
On this day, Lord Krishna slew the demon Narakasura and took an oil bath during the Brahmamuhurta (divine time). Because of the slaying of Narakasura, this fourteenth day is also known as Naraka Chaturdashi.
Worshiping Lord Krishna in the morning and lighting a lamp for Yamraj in the evening on this day helps in getting rid of all kinds of troubles and sins and removes the negative energy around you.
By doing some special remedies and worship on this day, a person gets beauty, attraction, positive energy, and blessings of ancestors along with Mahalakshmi.
Take bath with these things in Brahmamuhurta.
This day should begin by waking up early in the morning during Brahmamuhurta. Massage your body with oil, as Lord Krishna did after the death of Narakasura. Afterward, prepare a paste and take a bath. A paste based on five elements is especially beneficial.
- Gram flour
- Lemon juice
- mustard oil
- Turmeric and milk
- After this, take bath by adding leaves of the Apamarg plant in water.
It is said that those who do not wake up before sunrise and bathe on this day will suffer poverty and impurity throughout the year, and their auspicious deeds will be undone and their sorrows will increase. After bathing, worship Lord Krishna and chant the mantras: Vasudeva Sut Devam, Narakasura Mardanam, Devaki Paramananda, Krishnam Vande Jagat Gurum 108 times.
Follow these measures in the evening
On this day, you can especially seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and your ancestors. To do this, in the evening, draw a Swastika symbol with kumkum on both sides of your home's main door and light a mustard oil lamp.
Put some Rakta Gunja in it. Then, take a plate, make an eight-petaled symbol with Ashtagandh and place 14 mustard oil lamps in it. Then, add some Nag Kesar to the plate and take them to the Peepal tree. After this, light the lamps and perform 14 parikramas.
After completing the circumambulation, chant the mantra "Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay" 11 times and return home. After returning home, go to the temple with folded hands, meditate on your God, family deity, and Goddess Lakshmi, and receive their blessings. This will certainly bring about a change in your life.
Keep the south direction clean
On Narak Chaturdashi, Yamaraj, the god of Yamaloka, is worshipped. Yama's direction is considered south, so avoid leaving the south side of your home dirty on this day. Furthermore, don't donate oil on this day, as it angers Goddess Lakshmi.
Also, tamasic food should not be eaten on this day.
