Meta New Feature: Social media giant Meta is constantly working on new apps and features. After recently introducing Instants, which features Snapchat-like features, the company has now launched a new app in the US called Forum. This app works much like Reddit and is specifically designed with Facebook Groups and community discussions in mind.
The Forum aims to provide a platform for discussion, advice, and question-answer sessions on specific topics, rather than simply scrolling through photos and videos. It also incorporates AI-based answering to enhance the user experience.
Login will be done through Facebook account.
Meta's new app allows users to log in with their Facebook account. Once logged in, they see posts from Facebook Groups in a Reddit-like feed. Here, people can read ongoing discussions on various topics, discover new groups, and post directly to communities.
The company says that the forum has been designed in such a way that the attention of the users shifts from viral content to real conversations and useful information.
Facility to post with a nickname
An interesting feature of the Forum is that users can post under nicknames. However, their activities will remain linked to their Facebook account and associated groups. Any posts made in the app will also appear in the corresponding Facebook group, maintaining community connections. Additionally, a simple profile section is provided, where users' group activity and posts will be visible.
I have already done such an experiment before
This isn't the first time Meta has launched a separate app for Groups. Facebook launched a standalone Groups app in 2014, but later discontinued it in 2017. Now, the company is bringing back the concept with a new look and AI features.
AI will answer the questions.
The biggest attraction of the Forum is its AI-powered Ask feature. Users type in a question, and the app generates a response based on discussions in various Facebook Groups.
AI-generated responses will also be accompanied by links to the posts and discussions from which the information was drawn. This allows users to read the entire conversation if they wish. Furthermore, Meta Group is also using AI to assist admins in simplifying moderation and community management.
Meta's new strategy in the AI era
According to reports, Mark Zuckerberg believes that with the help of AI, the company can create new apps faster than before. This is why Meta is constantly experimenting. Some time ago, the company launched Threads, which many consider an alternative to X. The 'Instants' feature mirrored Snapchat and BeReal. Now, through Forum, the company is also entering the world of community-based conversations like Reddit.
Currently only available in the US
Currently, the Forum is only available to iPhone users in the US. Meta has not yet officially announced a global launch. However, the company's strategy suggests that its focus on AI and standalone apps may increase in the future.
