Where is this lake located

Lake Kariba is located in Southern Africa. Its waters run about one-third of the way along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Its waters then spread through the narrow valleys of the Zambezi, one of Africa's largest rivers. Between 1958 and 1963, the Kariba Dam increased the level of water in the lake, causing flooding on the Zambezi River.

This lake is made more than 223 kilometers i.e. 139 miles long and 40 kilometers wide. The depth of the lake is 29 meters i.e. 95 feet. Accordingly, this lake is called the largest man-made lake in the world.

Creation of Lake Kariba

It was constructed between 1950 and 1960. It took a total of 5 years to build it. The lake was created by the construction of the Kariba Dam on the Zambezi. The purpose of building it was to generate hydroelectric power for industry along the banks of Zambia-Zimbabwe.
