A big information has come to light regarding Voter ID and Aadhar Card. This information was given by the government in the Lok Sabha on Friday. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal gave this information in response to a question in the Lok Sabha. He said that the Government of India has not yet started linking the Aadhaar card with Voter ID card. On behalf of the Law Minister, it was said that the process of linking Aadhaar is ongoing and no target has been given for linking Aadhaar with Voter ID.
The Law Minister said that the Election Commission of India has informed that the work of linking Aadhaar with EPIC has not been started yet. Apart from this, the period for submitting Form 6B has been extended by one year, but linking Aadhaar with Voter ID is not mandatory. If you wish, you can link your Aadhar card with your Voter ID as per your wish.
If you want to link Aadhaar with Voter ID, then for this you will have to fill Form 6B. Its deadline has been extended till the end of March 2024. In response to a question by an MP, the Law Minister said that the names of persons whose identity cards were different and whose names were similar have been removed from the voter list.
Is a voter card necessary?
On behalf of the Law Minister, it was said that the Election Commission of India is responsible for the preparation, direction, and control of the voter list under Article 324 of the Constitution. According to the Commission, it keeps the election data stable with multi-layered security. According to the Election Commission, if a person does not have his name on the Voter ID, he will not have the right to vote. Apart from this, your Voter ID can also be used for identity cards and other purposes.
Let us tell you that the Central Government issued an advisory a few days ago to link an Aadhaar card with a Voter ID. After this, the opposition objected to this. After this, the government said that those who wish can link their Voter ID with an Aadhaar. Everyone doesn't need to link Aadhaar with Voter ID.
