In Budget 2023, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Mahila Samman Bachat Yojana. This scheme can be started only for two years i.e. till March 2025.

Who can invest
The name of this scheme itself shows that this scheme is for women. Women and minor girls can invest in this scheme. Apart from this, the husband can also invest in his wife. The Government of India has started this saving scheme for women.

Is there a tax benefit available in the scheme?
There is no benefit of tax deduction in this scheme. Let us tell you that the benefit of tax benefit is given on the investment amount under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act 1961.

The interest received on investment in this scheme is taxable. That means TDS is deducted on interest.

About Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme
This scheme is a saving scheme. It works just like FD. Understand it this way, if you invest Rs 2 lakh in this scheme for 2 years, then after maturity you will get Rs 2.32 lakh i.e. interest of Rs 32,000.

You can open an account for the scheme by going to your nearest post office. The benefit of this scheme is also being given in many banks of the country. To start investing in the scheme, you will need an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, and address proof document.

How much can you invest?
A minimum investment of Rs 1,000 has to be made in this scheme and a maximum of Rs 2 lakh can be invested. If you are already taking advantage of this scheme, you can also open another account. Please note that there should be a gap of at least 3 months between these two accounts.

After 1 year of opening a women's savings account, the investor can easily withdraw up to 40 percent of the amount from the account.
