The month of Sawan has started. This year the importance of Sawan is more because Sawan is going to be for two months.

There will be eight Monday dates in the two-month-long Sawan. However, people are confused about whether the fast will be observed on all eight Mondays or not.

The second month of Sawan will fall in Adhik Maas, which is considered inauspicious in Hinduism. In such a situation, it is important to know whether the Monday fast of this month will be valid or not.

Why are only 4 Mondays auspicious?

  • The first phase of Sawan will be from July 4, Tuesday to July 17, Monday.
  • After this, Malmas will run from July 18, Tuesday to August 16, Wednesday.
  • In such a situation, the coming Mondays during Malmas will not be valid, nor will the fast be observed.
  • Due to coming in Malmas, Monday dates are not falling in auspicious yoga.
  • That's why Monday fast will not be observed on these four dates.
  • While Lord Shiva can be worshipped on all Mondays.
  • However, in some areas, fasting on Mondays falling in Malmas will also be observed.
  • It is believed that Malmas is the favourite month of Lord Vishnu.
  • In such a situation, the worship of Lord Vishnu is given more importance during this time.
  • This does not mean that Shiva should not be worshipped, just that fasting is invalid.

What should be done especially in the month of Malmas and Sawan?

  • Do recite Vishnu Sahastranam of Lord Vishnu in Malmas.
  • At the same time, recite Lord Shiva's Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and Shiva HridayStotra in Sawan.
  • Worshipping Lord Shiva and Shri Hari Vishnu together is also considered auspicious.
