Sakhi Niwas Scheme
Hostel facility is provided on rent under the Sakhi Niwas Yojana in different regions of India. Only working women and their children are allowed to stay in this hostel. Many women work in cities far away from their homes, for which this scheme has been started to provide security. Earlier this scheme was known as Working Women Hostel.
Up to what age can children live together?
Under the Sakhi Niwas scheme, if the woman is married, then she can keep her girl for up to 18 years and the boy for up to 12 years in this host with her. Many times children also live with their mothers in other places, considering this step has been taken.
In which states is Sakhi Niwas located?
According to the press release available on the website of the Ministry of Women, there are 494 functional working women's hostels in the country with daycare facilities for children. The facility of this scheme is being provided in many states including Goa, Delhi, Nagaland, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Assam.
How to apply
Only women whose income is less than Rs.50,000/- per month in cities can take advantage of this scheme. You can contact the Women and Child Development Department to apply for this scheme. During this, you will have to submit several personal documents in the form of proofs.
