Rose flower is not only beautiful to look at, but its fragrance is also wonderful. Red roses are commonly found, but there are many varieties. You will find about 1600 types of roses in the Rose Garden. This rose garden is in Chandigarh.

Spread over 30 acres, this rose garden is considered to be the largest rose garden in Asia. About 50,000 roses of 1600 varieties grow here. Apart from this, many other flowers and plants are also present here. This garden has hundreds of species of roses not only from the country but also from abroad, which attract people. In 1967, the first administrator of Chandigarh, Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa built the Rose Garden. The third President of the country, Dr. Zakir Hussain named it Rose Garden. This garden is called Zakir Hussain Rose Garden.

A special underpass connects the Rose Garden and the Plaza

Seeing the beauty of the Rose Garden full of roses and fountains, Chandigarh Administration has constructed an underpass between Sector-17 Plaza and Rose Garden to make it attractive for tourists. The greenery planted inside the under bridge not only gives a different identity to the city but also gives a special experience to the tourists coming here. Also, a variety of performances are organized inside this under bridge throughout the year to promote artists of different levels. This underpass connects Sector-17 to Rose Garden.

The Rose Festival is held every year in February.
To promote the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden of the city and to the tourists, Chandigarh Municipal Corporation organizes Rose Festival every year in the month of February. During this three-day Rose Festival, stalls are set up for entertainment and purchase of flowers.
