A new trend in this is intermittent fasting. First of all, let us explain to you what this intermittent fasting is and how it reduces weight.
What is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting means eating for a few hours and then fasting for a longer period. Intermittent fasting is done in three ways. The most popular method is time restricted diet, in this you can usually eat for 8 hours and then not eat anything for 16 hours. Another method is to fast for 24 hours every other day i.e. a complete break from eating. The third method is to fast for two days a week, during which you can take things like water, coconut water, lemon water.
Intermittent fasting can prove dangerous
Just imagine, what if one day you come to know that the routine you were following to get good health is taking a toll on your health? There is bound to be a shock. Actually, a new research has come on intermittent fasting which has surprised everyone. The American Heart Association shared some important points of research on intermittent fasting in a conference held in Chicago, in which it came out that intermittent fasting for a long time can increase the risk of death from heart disease by 91 percent.
Data of 20 thousand people was analyzed
This research has been done on the basis of data of 20 thousand adult people. The average age of all of them was 48 years. It included half men and half women. But the interesting thing here is that in a research published in the New England Journal of Medicine in the year 2020, intermittent fasting was said to be beneficial for longevity. Research had claimed that if you eat food three times in 18 hours i.e. at a gap of 6-6 hours, then old age comes late and even the risk of cancer can be reduced. However, the researcher had clarified that what effect such fasting has in the long run remains to be seen.
How does our body work during fasting?
Our body needs energy to function which comes from glucose and it is produced by eating glucose. After eating food, the digestive system starts digesting the food and produces glucose. But while fasting, this digestive system does the repair work. Breaks down the fat stored in the body and converts it into energy, thereby controlling weight. During this time the body also does detoxification. The work of removing toxins i.e. dirt. According to nutritionist Dr. Ishi Khosla, whether any kind of fasting will be beneficial or harmful depends on many things related to you, such as-
* What is your age? Health experts believe that children and the elderly do not benefit from fasting.
* What kind of body have you got, that is, what kind of body you have genetically.
* What have you eaten for dinner after fasting? Because many times people eat heavy food while fasting, which spoils their hard work.
Doctors also say that if diabetic patients, heart patients or patients with weak immunity start fasting, they may suffer harm. In such a situation, to stay healthy, whatever fitness regime you are following, keep checking your pulse from time to time and keep listening to your body.
