In the Hindu religion, performing Shraddha, Tarpan, and Pind Daan is considered very important for the spiritual peace of the ancestors. It is said that by doing this the ancestors are pacified and their descendants remain blessed. This year Pitru Paksha has started from 29th September and Shraddha rituals will continue till 14th October. The food program is also big during Shraddha. Some rules have to be followed while preparing this food.

Some rules for preparing Shraddha food
Do not use onion and garlic while preparing Shraddha food. Always prepare satvik food.
There should be no anger or tears while cooking. Do not step on food even by mistake and do not lie.
While preparing food for Shraddha, the face should be towards the east. Do not face the south direction even by mistake, it is considered inauspicious.
Do not prepare Shraddha food wearing slippers.
During Shraddha, Brahmins should remain silent while eating. Shraddha food should be served in silver or copper utensils. Do not use earthen utensils even by mistake.
Prepare your ancestors' favorite meals and remember them. There is a religious belief that cooking our favorite food brings peace to the souls of our ancestors.
While serving food to Brahmins, needy and poor on the day of Shraddha, food should also be kept aside for cows, dogs, crows, and ants.

Some rules for consuming Shraddha food
Don't even praise Shraddha's food or take her name. This food should be eaten as Prasad. Remain silent while eating.
Brahmins should not be allowed to see a dog, chicken, or pig while eating Shraddha food. It is said that by seeing them the Shraddha food gets wasted.
Do not give the leftover food of Shraddha to anyone. In this way, the ancestors do not get the benefit of food.
While eating Shraddha food, Brahmins should face south direction.
Invite the Brahmins to the meal respectfully and give them a proper welcome and let them eat.
Shraddha of ancestors should be performed in the afternoon. Therefore, invite Brahmins also for lunch. Do not call in the evening or at night.
On the day of Shraddha, one should not eat until the Brahmin has eaten.
After feeding the Brahmins, they should donate as per their wish.
