With this, he will be able to make better decisions regarding purchasing.
The rule became mandatory from January 1-
Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary of, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, says that from now on it will be mandatory for companies to write their manufacturing date and their per gram or unit price on all canned or packaged goods. If a company does not manufacture on its own but imports some goods. So he will have to mention the exact date of import on the packet itself.
Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Singh says that packaged goods are sold in different quantities of packaging. Therefore, it becomes important that customers know the real price of each gram or unit of packaged goods. At the same time, by printing the exact date instead of the month of production of the goods, customers will know how old the goods actually are. With all this information, customers will have the option to make informed decisions. By writing the value of each gram or unit, it will be easier for the customers to choose between big and small packing.
The rule will work like this-
If you are going to buy any packaged item whose total weight is less than 1 kg, then the price per gram will be mentioned separately. Whereas on packing above one kilogram, the rate of goods per kilogram will be written. MRP i.e. Maximum Retail Price will also be mentioned on all packaged goods.
