These days, the risk of mysterious respiratory diseases is increasing in many cities of China. According to media reports, the number of patients in the emergency departments of hospitals complaining of pneumonia and respiratory infections has increased. The highest risk of this disease is seen in children, which is increasing the concern of health experts. Officials have advised everyone to remain alert and continue taking protective measures.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is seriously monitoring the sudden increase in infectious H9N2 cases in China. WHO has advised the authorities to keep continuously updating the situation and make efforts to prevent the increasing infectious disease in the country.

The big question amidst all this is whether India also needs to be alert about this disease. Let us understand about this.

Is there a risk of this in India also?
How alert should India be regarding the increasing infectious disease in China and can there be a danger of this disease here too? In this regard, health experts say that the risk of avian influenza cases and respiratory disease reported from China is currently low in India. Currently, available information shows that there has been an increase in respiratory diseases in China in the last few weeks, flu season is going on in India these days but there is no risk of conditions like in China.

How prepared is India?
Regarding preparedness for this disease in India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, the Government of India is monitoring the situation regarding the recent outbreak of H9N2 cases and respiratory diseases in children in China and all necessary steps are being taken for prevention. ICMR and Director General of Health Services are taking serious measures in this regard so that the risks can be avoided.

What is the main cause of this disease?
Health experts say that the winter season has started in China and this is the first winter after the pandemic when there are no restrictions of any kind. Due to lockdown and other restrictions, there was a protective shield against infectious diseases, which is now breaking.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a bacterial infection. Weakness of immunity due to the lockdown is considered to be the main reason for the sudden increase of this disease in China. The whole world is watching this situation seriously, but till now India has not been affected much. Health experts say that cases of respiratory infection have been seen in India, so the risk of it taking a serious form is less.
