When it comes to long-distance or comfortable travel, a large number of people are seen traveling by Indian Railways. There are many reasons for this, which include many other things ranging from comfortable seats, toilet arrangements, and catering facilities. If you have to travel by Indian train, then for this you just have to book a train ticket, after which you can travel from non-AC to AC coach, but Indian Railways has made a big change in the ticket booking system. In such a situation, it becomes important to know how will the common man be affected by this. So let's know about this decision of the Ministry of Railways...

Let's know the decision first.

Indian Railways has changed the rules for train ticket booking. Its notification was issued by the Ministry of Railways today i.e. on 17 October 2024. It said that now train tickets can be booked only up to 60 days in advance, not 120 days. Till now you can book train tickets up to 120 days in advance.

When will the decision be implemented?

Here also know that this decision of Indian Railways will not be implemented now but from November 1, 2024. In such a situation, in the remaining days of the month of October i.e. till 31 October 2024, you will be able to book train tickets only under the earlier rule (in this you can book train tickets 120 days in advance i.e. 4 months in advance).

The rule is for both online and offline.
If you have to travel by train, then in such a situation you book tickets online from the IRCTC app or website or you take tickets from the railway ticket counter, this new rule (you can book train tickets 60 days in advance from 1 November 2024) will be applicable at both these places i.e. whether you are taking tickets from the counter or booking online.

What will be the impact on the common man?
Till now if you have to book a train ticket, then you can book tickets 120 days in advance, but after 1 November 2024, this will not be possible. People book train tickets in advance to avoid Tatkal train tickets and to get confirmed tickets. People who plan to go somewhere in advance book train tickets 120 days in advance or in between. Such people will now get less time than before, i.e. only 60 days instead of 120.

While, on the other hand, those who book tickets late or suppose you plan to go somewhere later, then in such a case your chances of getting a confirmed train ticket will increase significantly. However, it cannot be denied that during the festive season, people may face problems in getting confirmed train tickets or the rush for tickets may increase.

The decision will not be applicable to these trains or routes

While on one hand the ticket rules have been changed, this decision will not be applicable for short route trains like Taj Express, and Gomti Express, i.e. the earlier rules will remain applicable here

At the same time, there has been no change in the 365-day advance booking rule available to foreign tourists. Therefore, this system will continue as before.
